Seat Cordoba Diesel Immobilizer Issue

I'm getting quite desperate. My 2001 Seat Cordoba with a diesel engine is giving me grief. It's done 189622 km. The engine won't start. Sometimes, it starts for a second then cuts out. The error memory shows an immobilizer problem. Could the key programming be off? It feels like the car doesn't recognize my key! Is there any way to do some sort of immobilizer bypass?

I had a similar issue with my Seat Cordoba. It sounds like an immobilizer fault. Has the security light been acting up?

When you experienced this, did the engine ever start briefly before cutting out, or was it a complete no-start situation? I'm trying to understand if my ignition control is completely gone or just faulty.

Yes, my engine would start briefly and then die immediately, just like yours. It's like the immobilizer was saying 'nope' right after the engine started. Honestly, I wouldn’t mess with an immobilizer bypass. It's best to get it checked by a professional. They can diagnose it properly and reprogram your key if needed.

Thank you for your insights! It seems that the key signal was indeed the problem. After a quick visit to the workshop, they reprogrammed the key, and it cost me just 45€. Now my Seat Cordoba runs like a charm again!
