Seat Cordoba Diesel Smoke and Warning Light

My 2005 Seat Cordoba diesel, with 150431 km, is showing a warning light. I've noticed smoke when accelerating, and the DPF won't regenerate. I suspect the exhaust back pressure sensor is faulty, causing emission control problems. Could a defective exhaust sensor prevent DPF regeneration and cause these vehicle emissions issues?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Cordoba. Was the smoke black? Could be the exhaust sensor. Have you checked the sensor?

When you had the issue, did you also have the DPF regeneration problem? Where is the sensor located exactly? Is it easy to check?

Yes, I also had the DPF regeneration issue. I didn't check the sensor myself; I took it to a workshop. They said it was causing the problem. It is probably best to get it checked professionally to be certain.

Right on the money. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor. Replacement cost 245€. The warning light is off, and the smoke is gone. Thanks for the help.
