Seat Cordoba engine stalling at idle
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Seat Cordoba is experiencing engine stalling at idle, with the check engine light indicating an issue with the idle air control (IAC) valve. The problem may be due to a faulty or contaminated IAC valve. Cleaning the valve might provide temporary relief, but replacement is often necessary for a long-term solution. Ultimately, replacing the IAC valve resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you had the issue, did the check engine light come on as well? How did you eventually resolve it? Did you clean the IAC valve yourself?

Yes, the check engine light was definitely on. I tried cleaning the IAC valve myself, but it didn't completely resolve the problem. It would run better for a while, but the engine stalling would eventually return. Ultimately, I had to take it to a workshop and get the IAC valve replaced. Save yourself the headache and get a professional to have a look.

It was indeed a faulty IAC valve. The intake was also heavily contaminated, as suspected. I had it replaced, and the total cost was 425€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a classic IAC valve issue. I had similar engine stalling problems with my Cordoba. Does the car idle erratically before it stalls? Have you tried cleaning the air valve? Sometimes that helps.
