Seat Cordoba Generator Issue

I am experiencing some issues with my 2001 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine. I suspect the generator is faulty. The symptoms include reduced engine power, a warning light on the speedometer, and poor vehicle starting. Also, the lights are weak and flickering. An error is stored in the error memory. Could this be a defective generator?

I also own a Cordoba. I experienced something similar last year. Did you notice any issues with the starter motor? My battery low warning light was also on, which turned out to be a symptom of the alternator issue. I'd check the charging system thoroughly.

Thanks for the information. Did you also have any engine misfire symptoms along with the battery low warning? Was the alternator issue obvious, or did it require specific testing?

Yes, I had occasional engine misfire, especially when starting. The alternator issue wasn't immediately obvious, but testing confirmed it wasn't charging correctly. I suggest taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to a workshop, and the generator was indeed faulty. Repair cost me 960€. Thanks again.
