Seat Cordoba oil pressure issues

The oil level is fine, and there's no visible oil leakage. I did an oil change recently, but the problem persists. How can I check if the oil filter is clogged or whether the oil pressure gauge is faulty?

Sounds like you've covered the basics. Given the noises and the warning light, a faulty oil pump is the most likely culprit. A clogged oil filter could contribute, but it wouldn't typically cause such a drastic pressure drop. The oil pressure gauge itself is less likely to fail. I'd recommend getting the oil pressure properly tested at a workshop to confirm, but be prepared for an oil pump replacement.

I appreciate the insight. I took it to a trusted mechanic, and you were spot on. The oil pump was indeed faulty. After replacement, including a new oil filter and oil change, the oil pressure is back to normal. Total damage: 755€. Thanks again for your help.

Low oil pressure on that engine usually points to a few suspects. Have you checked the oil level? Also, is the oil filter clogged? An oil change with the correct grade might help. Any signs of oil leakage?
