Seat Cordoba Oil Temperature Warning

My 2005 Seat Cordoba with a gasoline engine is throwing a fit. It has 110442 km. The oil temperature warning light is on, and the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up intermittently. I've checked the oil level, which seems fine. I suspect a faulty engine oil temperature sensor. My gut feeling is that the cable or plug connection is defective. Anyone else experience this?

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Cordoba. The oil pressure light and the temperature warning were driving me crazy. Have you checked the basics like the oil level? Did you do diagnostics to read the error code? Knowing the code makes a difference.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I checked the oil level, and it's fine. The error memory shows a fault related to the oil temperature sensor. That's why I'm leaning towards a problem with the sensor or its wiring. Did you also get an error code pointing to the oil temperature sensor?

Yes, the error code pointed towards the oil sensor as well. I spent hours checking the wiring, but it's a pain to trace everything. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the oil temperature sensor and some corroded connectors. Best to get it checked professionally; it'll save you time and potential headaches.

Took the Cordoba to the shop today. You were right. It was the oil temperature sensor because of a bad connection. They cleaned it and replaced some wiring. Cost 95€. Thanks again
