Seat Cordoba Overheating Air Flap Issue

I have a Seat Cordoba, built in 2000, with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine is overheating. I believe the active air flap is at fault. I suspect the electromechanism is defective. Any thoughts?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had almost the same issue with my Cordoba. Check engine light was on, and car overheating! I think the fault code pointed towards the air intake. Was it the same for you?

Yes, the fault code did point to the air intake. Did you have to replace the whole air flap, or was it just a sensor or something?

I didn't fix it myself. I brought it straight to a workshop. Apparently the whole active air flap needed replacing. Probably best to get it checked properly, before you end up with a blown engine!

I took it to a garage, and as suspected, the active air flap electromechanism was faulty. Cost me 590€ to fix, but at least the car overheating problem and check engine light are gone.
