Seat Cordoba rough idle and error code

I'm at my wit's end with my 2004 Seat Cordoba (gasoline engine, 125066 km). I'm getting an error stored in the memory, and the engine's idling is just plain awful – very uneven. I suspect it might be a defective engine mount. I've read that a likely cause could be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any thoughts before I potentially spend a fortune?

Uneven idling and error codes on a Cordoba, huh? Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Cordoba, also gasoline. Check the engine mount's condition, especially the transmission mount. Mount wear can cause vibrations and throw off the engine's balance, leading to those symptoms. Also, give the cable and plug connections a good look for corrosion or loose fittings.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you mention 'engine mount's condition', what exactly should I be looking for? Is it obvious mount wear, like cracks, or something more subtle?

Yeah, visible cracks or separations in the rubber are telltale signs of mount wear. But sometimes it’s less obvious – the rubber might just be excessively soft or deformed. Given the error code and idling issue, it's worth getting it checked professionally. Could be a mounting bracket issue. I'd suggest a workshop visit to confirm the engine mount issue before throwing parts at it. Better safe than sorry, eh?

I really appreciate your insights! It turned out the error was indeed related to a defective engine mount and its connection. The workshop visit confirmed it. After replacing the mounting bracket, including labor, it cost me about 95€. Runs smoothly now!
