Seat Exeo Air Conditioning Problems

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My 2009 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is throwing some weird errors. The error memory keeps logging a fault related to the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger. The speedometer is showing an error message, and the worst part? The air conditioning system refuses to switch on! I've checked the basics, but I'm starting to suspect a defective air conditioning control unit. Mileage is at 98823 km. Anyone else run into this issue with their cooling system?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Exeo's HVAC system a while back. Same error codes and everything. The air con not kicking in was super annoying, especially in the summer. Have you checked the engine cooling fan? Mine was running constantly, even when the engine was cold, which pointed to a sensor issue. Does the engine temperature gauge on your dash seem normal?

Yeah, the engine temperature gauge seems normal, sitting right in the middle. The cooling fan does seem to be running more than usual, now that you mention it. When you say 'sensor issue', are you talking about the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger itself, or something else entirely? And did you end up fixing it yourself?

Yep, in my case it was the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger. I tried to troubleshoot it myself, but honestly, the location is a pain to get to, and I didn't want to mess anything up further. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed the sensor was faulty and replaced it. The air conditioning system was fine; the faulty sensor was messing with the HVAC system's brain. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a professional before throwing parts at it. Hopefully, it's just the sensor!

Took it to the shop, and you were right. The temperature sensor on the heat exchanger was indeed faulty. They replaced it, did some sensor calibration, and the HVAC system is working perfectly again. Cost me around 980€, which is a punch to the gut, but at least it's fixed. Thanks a bunch for your help!
