Seat Exeo Air Suspension Problems

Evening. My 2009 Seat Exeo with a diesel engine is giving me grief. The air suspension seems to have failed. The car won't lift anymore, it's leaning to one side, and I'm getting an error message on the dash, plus a warning light. The low beams are either too high or too low, making it impossible to drive at night. The error memory also has a fault stored. I'm thinking it might be a defective cable or plug connection.

I encountered a similar problem with my Audi A6 a while back. Symptoms sound identical: the car was leaning, error messages popped up, and the headlights were misaligned. Have you checked for any obvious air leaks in the system? Also, listen closely near each air strut and the suspension pump itself when the system is trying to adjust.

Air leaks, you say? Where exactly should I be looking? Around the air struts themselves, or more towards the compressor unit?

Yes, my issue was eerily similar. Think of the air suspension system like a bicycle tire. If the valve is faulty (the strut connection), or the pump isn't working, or there's a hole in the tire (air line leak) it won't hold air. While it may be a simple connection issue as you suspect, diagnosing air leaks without proper equipment can be tricky. I would strongly recommend having a workshop take a look. They can pinpoint the exact location of any air leaks and properly diagnose the suspension pump itself. A faulty connection could be the best case scenario; however, internal malfunction of the air struts might also lead to a comparable behavior.

Thanks for the input. Turns out it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to the compressor. Fixed it for 95€.
