Seat Exeo Automatic Tailgate Issue

I'm getting seriously frustrated with my 2008 Seat Exeo Gasoline! The automatic tailgate is playing up big time. It only opens halfway, and the error memory keeps throwing up a 'tailgate hall sensor fault'. From what I've read, it's likely a defective cable or plug connection on the component itself. Anyone else had this? What am I looking at here?

Had something similar happen on my Exeo. Tailgate wouldn't fully open and I was getting some weird error codes. Did you check the tailgate motor itself? Maybe the sensor calibration is off? I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but it could be worth a look. Also, have you inspected the hall sensor plug connection for corrosion or damage?

Yeah, pretty much the same. Tailgate motor acting up, not opening all the way, hall sensor error. I ended up taking it to a workshop because I didn't want to mess with the sensor wiring myself. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Honestly, unless you're comfortable with auto electrics, I'd recommend getting it checked professionally. Could save you a lot of headaches.

When you say 'similar', was it the exact same symptoms, with the tailgate motor not fully opening? And how did you fix it? I'm not the most technical person, so 'sensor calibration' sounds a bit scary to me. Is that something I can do myself, or will I need to bite the bullet and take it to a shop?

Took it to a workshop as you suggested, and bingo! Turns out it was indeed the hall sensor wiring, just like the error code said. 95€ later and my automatic tailgate is working perfectly again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
