Seat Exeo Diesel Cylinder Pressure Issue

Need some help. My 2008 Seat Exeo diesel is giving me headaches. Mileage is at 189430 km. I'm experiencing fluctuating cylinder pressure, which is causing higher fuel consumption and a noticeable loss of engine power. The check engine light is also on, of course. I suspect it might be a consequential error stemming from another issue. Could it be the intake manifold?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Seat Exeo diesel was experiencing fluctuating cylinder pressure, increased fuel consumption, and reduced engine power, with the check engine light on. The issue was suspected to be related to the intake manifold. However, it was suggested that the problem might be linked to the turbocharger, as a faulty sensor could cause similar symptoms. Ultimately, a mechanic diagnosed the issue as a false alarm caused by a malfunctioning sensor, which was resolved by resetting the system.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Cylinder pressure issues, huh? I had something similar happen with my Exeo. High fuel consumption, felt like I was driving through mud, and that dreaded light on the dash. Have you checked the turbocharger? That was my issue, and it caused all sorts of weird readings. It's like a domino effect!

Turbocharger, eh? Interesting. What exactly was wrong with it? And did it also show any symptoms related to the camshaft or crankshaft? I'm just trying to get a better picture before I start tearing things apart.

Yeah, mine was a faulty sensor related to the turbocharger. The car's computer was going nuts trying to compensate, which then caused all sorts of other errors related to the camshaft position and even mimicking engine knocking. Honestly, I'd recommend getting it hooked up to a proper diagnostic machine. It'll save you a lot of guesswork... and potential damage.

Took it to a mechanic, they checked everything. Turns out the check engine light and the pressure fluctuation were a false alarm. Some sensor was acting up and throwing codes related to the intake manifold. They reset the system, and all seems fine now. No engine knocking or anything. Cost me 0€. Thanks for the input!
