Seat Exeo Diesel Fuel Consumption Issue

My 2008 Seat Exeo with a diesel engine is drinking fuel. We're talking seriously reduced fuel efficiency. Plus, it's starting poorly, like it's really struggling. A person suggested it might be the throttle valve. Could it be the accelerator pedal module? Any ideas before I sell this thing?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Exeo. Check your throttle body and the car throttle control valve itself. When the engine is idling roughly it usually indicates there is a problem with the air intake. Is the engine light on?

The engine idle was all over the place. Where exactly is the throttle body located? And what should I be looking for when I check the car throttle control valve? Is there a way to test it or should I just bring it to the workshop?

The throttle body is usually connected to the intake manifold. Since you mentioned poor starting and high fuel consumption, and having had the same issue I'd say just get it checked at a garage. In my case it was a defective accelerator pedal module that caused the problem. Saved me a lot of headaches.

Big thanks for the help. I got the car throttle control valve replaced, including the accelerator pedal module. It cost 205€, but the Seat Exeo is running great again. Fuel efficiency is back to normal, and it starts up perfectly now.
