Seat Exeo Diesel fuel filter heater issue

I'm having some issues with my 2011 Seat Exeo 2.0 TDI, with 171323 km. The engine warning light is on, and the error memory shows a fault with the fuel filter heater. The symptoms include reduced engine power, poor engine response, higher fuel consumption, and slightly uneven idling. From what I've read, a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the heater. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any advice on troubleshooting before I think about replacing the entire fuel filter assembly? I'm trying to keep the fuel efficiency and performance of my diesel engine optimal.

Sounds like a faulty fuel filter heater circuit. I had similar power loss issues with my old Renault Megane diesel. Is the wiring in good condition? Check the plug connection first. It could be a loose wire or a corroded connector. Sometimes it's the small things that cause the biggest problems!

Thanks for the quick reply! You mentioned checking the plug connection. Is there a specific area or pin on the connector that's known to be problematic? I've done a quick visual check, but everything seems fine on the surface.

The plug itself can be a problem. They're exposed to all sorts of dirt. After spending hours on it, I gave up and took the Renault to a shop. They found a cracked connector. Sometimes, it's best to let professionals handle it. Plus, they have the right diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact issue. It could save you time and frustration. Seriously, visit a workshop.

I wanted to share the result. Following the suggestion, I visited a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a faulty connection in the fuel filter heater circuit. The repair set me back 95€, and the car is now running perfectly. Thanks for the input!
