Seat Exeo diesel injection woes
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Seat Exeo diesel was experiencing poor fuel consumption, power loss, stalling, and smoke emissions, likely due to issues with the injection system. A suggestion was made to inspect the electrical connections to the fuel injectors, as a loose or corroded connection could cause such problems. Upon checking, a loose plug on one injector was found and fixed, resolving the issues and restoring the car's performance.

Electrical connections to the fuel injectors, eh? Is that a common thing? Where exactly should I be looking, and what am I looking for? Any chance you had the same issue with your petrol engine?

My Exeo, whilst a petrol variant, exhibited similar behavior. It was indeed a loose or corroded connector to one of the injectors. I recommend meticulously inspecting each connection, ensuring they are secure and free from corrosion. If the issue persists, a diagnostic check at a reputable workshop may be warranted to pinpoint the exact source of the malfunction.

Massive thanks for the tip. Turns out you were spot on! I checked all the connections as you said and there was a loose plug on one of the injectors. Gave it a clean, plugged it back in properly, and the car is running like a dream again. Total cost? 95€ for the diagnostic. Unbelievable! Saved me a fortune!

Your described symptoms certainly resonate with a previous issue I encountered on my Seat Exeo, although I drive a petrol version. Reduced engine power and stalling at idle are indicative of fuel delivery irregularities. I would pose the query: have you inspected the electrical connections to your fuel injectors? A defective connection can manifest in such a manner.
