Seat Exeo engine problems
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Seat Exeo with a gasoline engine is experiencing stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, smoke during acceleration, and an illuminated check engine light. The suspected cause is a defective mass air flow sensor (LMM). A similar issue was resolved by replacing the faulty sensor, which improved the car's performance.

When you say 'sensor failure', are you referring to the mass air flow sensor specifically?

Yes, that's what I meant. In my case, the Mass Air Flow sensor was faulty. The car was almost undriveable with the performance decline. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I suggest taking it to a workshop.

I appreciate the insight. Replacing the mass air flow meter resolved the issues. The total cost was 365€.

I had something similar happen with my Seat Leon. Symptoms sound very close. Has your fuel economy taken a hit? It could be a sensor failure messing with the air intake and the air-fuel ratio. I'd check that sensor!
