Seat Exeo Exhaust Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Seat Exeo owner reported an issue with increased exhaust noise and an error code, suspecting a malfunctioning exhaust flap. The problem was identified as a likely defective flap motor, which could cause an exhaust blockage if stuck. It was recommended to have the vehicle inspected to prevent further damage. The issue was confirmed and resolved by replacing the flap motor, restoring normal exhaust sound and clearing the error.

The noise seems to be more noticeable at lower RPMs, especially when the engine is cold. As for engine performance, it's hard to say for sure. Maybe a slight decrease, but nothing dramatic. Could a faulty flap motor cause an exhaust blockage?

Yep, an exhaust blockage is definitely a possibility if the flap motor is failing. It could be stuck in a partially closed position, restricting the exhaust flow. Given the symptoms and error code, it's pretty likely the flap motor is the issue. I'd recommend getting it checked out at a workshop to avoid any further damage to other exhaust components.

Took the Exeo to the shop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the exhaust flap motor. They replaced it for 190€ including labor. The error is gone, and the car sounds normal again. Thanks for your help!

Loud exhaust and error codes, huh? Sounds like those exhaust valves could definitely be the culprit. Is the noise constant, or does it change with engine speed? Also, have you noticed any impact on engine performance?
