Seat Exeo Heating Issue

Good day. I'm experiencing an annoying issue with my 2009 Seat Exeo diesel. The seat heating isn't working. It doesn't get warm at all, and there's an error stored in the system. I suspect the heating mat is defective, but I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this before I shell out a lot of money for an automotive repair. Any ideas on where to start with this heating repair?

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Exeo. The seat wouldn't get warm at all. Did you check the fuse for the seat heater? It's a simple thing, but worth a look. Also, does the error code give you any more specific information?

I did check the fuses, all seem to be fine. The error code just says 'Seat heating defective' - not very helpful! Did you end up replacing the whole seat, or just the heating element? And how did you pinpoint the exact problem?

Yeah, 'Seat heating defective' is about as useful as a chocolate teapot, right? I didn't replace the whole seat, just the heating element. Basically, what happened with mine is that the thermal sensor within the heating element failed. It's designed to prevent overheating, but when it goes bad, it just cuts the power completely. I didn't diagnose it myself; I took it to a workshop. They can test the element directly to confirm if it's gone kaput. Save yourself the headache and let them have a look, it will be worth it.

Alright, I appreciate the confirmation. I took it to a shop, and they confirmed the heating element in the seat was indeed faulty. 390€ later, and my backside is toasty again! Thanks for your help.
