Interesting. So, low oil could actually cause the transmission sensor to go off? I haven't checked the oil level myself. Is it easy to do, and where exactly is the pressure sensor located? I don't want to mess anything up further.

Yes low oil level can definitely cause the pressure sensor to throw a fault. If you are experiencing shifting issues and noises I would advise against driving the vehicle further. Checking the transmission oil level on your own can be difficult without the proper tools and knowledge, as it requires accessing specific fill points and ensuring the correct level at a certain temperature. It would be best to get it to a workshop so they can diagnose it properly and prevent further damage.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The gearbox oil level was too low, causing the transmission oil pressure sensor to throw a fault. They topped it up and replaced the sensor. Cost me 365€, but it's running smoothly again. Thanks for the advice.

I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon. A transmission fault can be triggered by something as simple as low oil. Has the gearbox oil level been checked recently? If the oil level is correct, the pressure sensor or the pressure gauge itself could be faulty. It's also worthwhile confirming the correct specification of oil has been used in the transmission.
