Seat Formentor Air Conditioning Issue

I am experiencing issues with my 2022 Seat Formentor, diesel engine, with 114068 km. The error memory indicates a defective temperature sensor related to the heat exchanger. This manifests as an error message on the speedometer, and the air conditioning system refuses to activate. Initial suspicion points towards a faulty air conditioning control unit. Has anyone encountered similar problems or has insights into potential diagnostic steps beyond what I've already outlined?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Seat Formentor with a diesel engine experienced air conditioning issues, indicated by an error message on the speedometer and a defective temperature sensor related to the heat exchanger. The initial suspicion was a faulty air conditioning control unit. However, further investigation suggested the temperature sensor as the root cause. A certified workshop confirmed the defective sensor, leading to its replacement and system recalibration, resolving the issue.

The symptoms you describe definitely point towards a sensor malfunction affecting the air conditioning system and potentially other engine management functions. Considering the stored error memory and the error message displayed, the air conditioning control unit being defective is plausible, but it's crucial to rule out other possibilities before condemning the unit. Have you inspected the coolant level recently? A coolant leak could also trigger similar errors if it affects the temperature readings. Also, are there any other noticeable performance issues, like engine overheating or unusual fuel consumption, that might indicate a broader cooling system problem?

Thanks for your reply. Coolant levels seem normal, and I haven't observed any overheating or significant changes in fuel consumption. Given these additional details, does the air conditioning control unit still seem like the most probable cause? Could a simple sensor calibration potentially resolve the issue, or is a replacement more likely?

Based on the additional information, the defective temperature sensor is the most probable cause. While a calibration issue can't be entirely dismissed, the fact that it's directly related to the heat exchanger and accompanied by a non-functional air conditioning system suggests a hardware problem. The air conditioning control unit might be a consequence, not the root cause. I would advise proceeding to a certified workshop for a thorough diagnosis and sensor replacement.

Following the recommendations and the error codes, I visited a certified workshop. Diagnosis confirmed the temperature sensor within the heat exchanger was defective, leading to the air conditioning malfunction and the error messages. Repair costs tallied to 980€, covering the sensor replacement and system recalibration. Thanks for the insights; they were instrumental in guiding the repair process.
