Thank you for your response. I have indeed observed some low power, especially at lower RPMs. The engine oil has been changed according to the service schedule. Could oil sludge be a contributing factor even with regular changes? What steps do you suggest I take next to confirm the diagnosis?

Given the low power you're experiencing and the mileage, the oil sludge possibility cannot be dismissed entirely, although less probable with regular changes. However, it strongly indicates the VANOS is the source of the problem. At this point, it would be prudent to visit a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can check the solenoid valve and the wiring.

I am very grateful for your input. I took it to the shop and they confirmed it was the inlet VANOS solenoid valve, just as you suspected. The replacement and labor cost me 250€. Now the car runs perfectly again. Thank you for your advice.

A check engine light and increased fuel consumption on a 2022 Seat Formentor points towards variable timing issues indeed. The mileage is considerable though. Has the engine oil been changed regularly, as per the manufacturer's recommendations? Have you noticed any low power or engine misfire symptoms? It sounds like a BMW VANOS issue, like a clogged artery in a human.
