Seat Formentor Door Lock Issue

I'm having a problem with my 2020 Seat Formentor with a gasoline engine. It has about 161646 km on it. The door on the driver's side can no longer be locked or unlocked. I suspect it's related to a faulty door contact signal, as the car doesn't seem to 'know' when the door is open or closed. Could this be a simple electrical issue with the door sensor, maybe a bad cable or plug connection? I'm trying to avoid a costly repair if it's something minor.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! I have a Seat Formentor as well, though I haven't had the exact same issue. However, I did experience something similar with my car alarm going off randomly. Turned out to be a faulty door switch. Have you checked the door latch mechanism itself? Sometimes they can get sticky or damaged, leading to incorrect signals. Also, any signs of water ingress around the door sensor? That can wreak havoc on electrical components.

Thanks for the quick reply! Interesting about the car alarm issue. No, I haven't noticed any water. Where exactly is the door switch located? Is it something I can easily check myself, or do I need special tools?

Yes, my issue also prevented locking/unlocking. The door switch is integrated into the door latch mechanism, so it is not easily visible. Honestly, unless you're comfortable with car electrics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Tampering with the door latch can be tricky and might even mess up the car alarm system further. A diagnostic check should pinpoint the exact problem quickly. If it's just a faulty connection, they might be able to fix it without replacing the entire unit. Good luck!

Just wanted to say it was the door sensor. The workshop replaced it. Cost 95€, which I think is reasonable. Thanks again for your help!
