Seat Formentor emergency call malfunction

I have a 2023 Seat Formentor, diesel engine, with about 187000 km on it. The emergency call system seems to have gone bonkers. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer, a warning light, and the error memory has stored a fault. The shop thinks it's probably a bad cable or plug connection. Has anyone seen this before? The SOS signal not working makes me nervous about car safety.

Emergency call system errors can be tricky. Is the car safety system otherwise working properly? Have you tried a simple system reset? Does the error disappear temporarily after that, or is it constant? It could be a software glitch too, but the cable issue seems plausible given your description.

What do you mean by 'system reset'? Just disconnecting the battery? And if it's software, is that a control module issue? I'm a bit lost when it comes to that.

Disconnecting the battery might do a basic reset, but it's unlikely to fix it permanently if there's a hardware fault. Software issues could point to the control module needing a reflash, but a dodgy connector is way more common. Based on what you've said and the diagnostic codes, I'd say the shop's on the right track. Maybe best to get them to check those connections properly.

The shop confirmed a faulty connector. They replaced it, cleared the diagnostic codes, and the SOS signal is back online. 95€ all in. Thanks for the help!
