Interesting. When you say transmission sensor, are you referring to the gearbox sensor specifically? I've seen that mentioned online. And how did you determine that the fluid level was low? Did you get a warning light, or was it something else?

Indeed, I was referring to the gearbox sensor; apologies for the lack of specificity. The automatic transmission in my BMW exhibited similar symptoms. Before the emergency mode kicked in, the shifts became noticeably unclean. Regarding the fluid level, there was no explicit warning light for low transmission fluid. However, I observed what appeared to be minor leaks near the transmission housing during a routine inspection. Given your vehicle's symptoms and the error code you're retrieving, a visit to a trusted workshop for a thorough diagnosis would be a prudent course of action.

Just wanted to say thanks for your help. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the gearbox sensor, and the oil level was low too. They sorted it all out, cost me 365€. Back on the road now!

Overheating problems and transmission issues can be quite unsettling, can't they? I recall a similar situation with my previous vehicle, an older BMW 5 series. Although the make and model differ, the symptoms you're describing sound eerily familiar to a faulty transmission sensor. Have you by any chance checked the transmission fluid level? In my case, low fluid levels were a contributing factor.
