Seat Ibiza AdBlue System Problem

Okay, so I'm officially freaking out. My Seat Ibiza with a diesel engine is giving me a major headache. The AdBlue tank seems to be empty, even though I filled it up not too long ago. Now I have an error message on the speedometer, plus a service light, and the engine won't even start! The error memory says something about a problem with the AdBlue system. Someone mentioned it could be a defective Ad-Blue output from the tank to the dosing unit. Is this going to cost me a fortune? I'm worried about fuel efficiency and emissions control now too!

Sounds like the DEF fluid system on my Seat Ibiza. I had a similar issue, though the error message was slightly different. Have you checked the AdBlue pump or any of the lines for leaks? That stuff can crystalize and cause blockages.

I haven't checked those specifically. Where exactly would I find the AdBlue pump, and how would I know if there's a leak? Is it something obvious, or do I need special tools? I am not really mechanically inclined.

On the Ibiza, the pump is near the tank itself. Leaks can sometimes be spotted by looking for white, crusty deposits. But honestly, if you're not comfortable poking around, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Could save you money in the long run, especially if it's a more complex issue.

You were totally right! Took it to a mechanic, and it was exactly as you described – something wrong with the AdBlue output. Cost me around 250€ to fix, but at least my Ibiza is running again. Thanks for the help!
