My 2008 Seat Ibiza with a gasoline engine has an alarm system malfunction. VCDS shows a siren communication fault. Mileage is 85258 km. I suspect a wiring issue, or defective plug. Repair cost estimated at 95€. Alarm system is non functional. Any ideas?

That sounds like the automotive alarm gremlins I had in my Ibiza. I recall similar symptoms with my alarm system. Did you check the connections to the siren itself? They can corrode, like a bad ethernet connection causing network issues.

Yes, it was the connector near the siren. If I remember correctly, there was corrosion on the pins. Have a workshop check it, as it might be more complex, and an alarm reset procedure could be required.
