Seat Ibiza Diesel Oil Pressure Warning

I have a 2019 Seat Ibiza with a diesel engine and about 144557 km. The oil pressure warning lamp came on and the engine is making loud mechanical noises. Could this be oil pump failure? Any advice?

Low oil pressure in a diesel engine is serious. Check the oil pressure gauge first. Was the oil filter recently changed? A clogged oil filter could cause this. If not, it could be an oil pump issue, requiring immediate action to prevent engine damage.

Thanks for the quick response. I had an oil change 8000 km ago but don't know if they changed the oil filter. How can I check the oil pressure gauge?

Given the symptoms and the car's mileage, oil pump failure is likely. Checking the oil pressure gauge needs special tools. Running the engine with low oil pressure risks damaging the engine bearings. Get a professional diagnosis right away.

The workshop diagnosed oil pump failure. The repair, including the pump, labor, and a new oil filter, cost 755€ Thanks for the guidance.
