Seat Ibiza Diesel Smoke and Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Seat Ibiza with a diesel engine was experiencing issues with a warning light on the speedometer and smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause was the exhaust back pressure sensor, which was preventing the DPF from regenerating. After diagnostics confirmed the sensor issue, replacing it resolved the problem, eliminating the smoke and turning off the warning light.

The diagnostics pointed to the exhaust back pressure sensor. I already checked the wiring, and it seems fine. Is there any way to test the pressure sensor itself without specialized tools? I am afraid it is the cause of the DPF not regenerating. How did you fix the issue with your Fiesta?

Yeah, if the diagnostics already pointed to the pressure sensor, and you've checked the wiring, it's probably the sensor itself. Honestly, without proper tools, testing it is going to be tricky. In my Fiesta, the garage told me the sensor was faulty, and I ended up just getting it replaced. Saved me a lot of headache. I´d recommend going to a workshop...

You were right. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor. The replacement, with labor, was 245€. The smoke is gone, the warning light is off, and I think the DPF is regenerating now. Thanks for the help.

Whoa, that sounds rough. Smoke is never a good sign. I had a similar thing with my old Fiesta, though it wasn't a Seat. Is the engine running rough too? I'm no expert, but maybe check the sensor connections. Could be something simple like a loose wire. What did the vehicle diagnostics say?
