Seat Ibiza Diesel Windshield Washer Problem

I have a bit of a pickle with my 2019 Seat Ibiza diesel. The windshield washer heater seems to have given up the ghost. I am getting an error stored in the error memory, and the spray nozzles are frozen solid when it gets cold. Considering the mileage is at 167520 km, I suspect it is the cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas before I start tearing things apart?

I am no expert, but it sounds like you have a good handle on things. Have you checked the fuse box? I am not sure if the windshield wipers and the washer heater share a fuse. Also, are you sure it is the heater and not just clogged nozzles? I had that issue last winter and cleaning the nozzles solved it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did check the fuse box, and the fuse for the windshield wipers is fine. I also tried cleaning the nozzles, but that did not help. How can I be absolutely sure it is the washer heater? Could it be anything else?

Since you have checked the fuses and cleaned the clogged nozzles, and are still getting an error, it does sound like the washer heater itself or the wiring. Since you suspect a defective connection, that seems plausible. Honestly, I am not comfortable enough to advise you further. Maybe best to take it to a workshop?

Thanks for your input. It turned out to be exactly what you suspected – a faulty connection. I checked the fuse box first, everything looked fine. Then I took it to a local mechanic, and they found a corroded connector on the washer heater. 95€ later and the windshield wipers are working perfectly again. Good to be ready for winter driving.
