Seat Ibiza electrical issues and error codes

I'm at my wit's end with my 2009 Seat Ibiza gasoline engine. It's got about 165426 km on the clock, and recently it's started playing up big time. I keep getting errors popping up, and generally, the electrics seem to be going bonkers. Even the navigation system has given up the ghost! I took it to a local garage, and they said the error memory shows something about 'implausible programming of the control unit'. Their diagnosis points to a vehicle software issue, and they're quoting me 240€ for a recalibration. Is this a common thing? Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like a real pain! I had something similar happen with my Seat Leon, though the navigation wasn't affected. It was throwing up all sorts of weird errors. The onboard diagnostics were going crazy! Have you tried a basic ECU reset? Sometimes that clears things up, but if it's a software malfunction, it might not be enough. Could be ECU problems.

Yeah, an ECU reset sometimes works, but honestly, with those symptoms, it sounds like you need a proper recalibration. A software malfunction basically means the programming in the car's computer (the ECU) has become corrupted or glitched. It's not something you can easily fix at home unless you have the right software and knowledge. For that price, getting it sorted at a workshop is probably the best bet. Recalibration should sort the ECU problems out.
