Seat Ibiza engine light and whistling noise

My 2006 Seat Ibiza with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches! The check engine light is on, and the power is noticeably reduced. Plus, there's this really annoying whistling noise, and a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. I plugged in an OBD reader, and it's showing a charge air temperature sensor error. From what I've read, it could be a faulty cable or plug connection? Has anyone experienced this before? This whole air temperature thing is new to me, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Seat Ibiza with a gasoline engine is experiencing a check engine light, reduced power, and a whistling noise, accompanied by a charge air temperature sensor error. The issue may stem from a faulty cable or plug connection related to the sensor. It is suggested to have a qualified technician inspect the charge sensor and its wiring, as a defective cable is a likely cause. After inspection, it was confirmed that the cable was faulty, and replacing it resolved the issue.

I also drive a Seat Ibiza. A similar issue, including the whistling noise under acceleration, presented itself some time ago. Have you checked the temperature gauge? Is it showing unusual readings?

The temperature gauge seems to be acting normal, but I am not sure. When you say 'unusual readings', what exactly should I look for? Should I be looking at getting a new air sensor then?

Yes, the temperature gauge fluctuating erratically or staying at an extreme end of the scale. Since yours appears normal, it is likely the connection. Given the error code and symptoms, I would advise having a qualified technician inspect the charge sensor and its wiring. A defective cable is a plausible cause.

Took the Ibiza to a workshop, and you were spot on. They checked the charge sensor and the cable was indeed faulty. I'm so relieved it wasn't anything major. Cost me 95€, now my baby's running smoothly again! Thanks a bunch!
