Seat Ibiza Engine Stalling After Fuel Filter Replacement

I am writing to describe an issue I am experiencing with my 2011 Seat Ibiza, equipped with a gasoline engine. The vehicle currently has 167902 km on the odometer. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, accompanied by noticeable engine stalling at idle and a reduction in overall engine power. I suspect a defective fuel pressure regulator, possibly triggered by an error entry following a recent fuel filter replacement. Could this be the case? Any insights into the fuel system, the fuel rail, the fuel regulator, the fuel pump, or the pressure sensor would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Seat Ibiza experienced engine stalling and reduced power after a fuel filter replacement, with the check engine light illuminated. The issue was suspected to be a defective fuel pressure regulator, possibly triggered by the recent maintenance. After considering similar experiences and potential causes like the fuel rail pressure sensor, the problem was resolved by replacing the fuel pressure regulator, which restored normal engine function and cleared the error code.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

The check engine light and stalling do sound familiar. I drive an Ibiza as well. I had a similar issue after replacing the fuel filter. Did you check the fuel rail pressure sensor? It might be worth a look.

Interesting. Could you elaborate on the fuel rail pressure sensor? What exactly did you experience, and how did you diagnose the sensor as the problem?

I had similar symptoms. The engine ran rough, and the light was on. The sensor was sending incorrect readings after the fuel filter change. It is like a clogged artery causing pressure problems. A workshop visit confirmed it. It is best to get it checked professionally.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems that my initial suspicion was correct: the fuel pressure regulator was indeed the culprit. Replacing it set me back approximately 45€, and the car is now running smoothly again. The error code is gone, and the engine no longer stalls. Thank you again for your help.
