Seat Ibiza Engine Start Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Seat Ibiza with a gasoline engine and 91,633 km on the clock is experiencing starting issues, where the engine either refuses to start or starts briefly before cutting out. The problem is linked to an immobilizer error, suspected to be caused by incorrect key programming. The suggested solution is to have the key re-programmed at a workshop, which resolved the issue with a simple anti-theft system reset.

Interesting. The immobilizer light is flashing. What exactly was the fix for your Megane? Did you need a new key, or was it just a key programming issue? Any experience with immobilizer bypass?

Yep, flashing immobilizer light was the giveaway for me. It was a key programming problem. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with an immobilizer bypass myself; it's too risky. Take it to a workshop and get the key re-programmed. It’s a relatively quick fix, and you'll save yourself a headache.

Took the Ibiza to the workshop, and it turned out the key programming was indeed the culprit. A simple anti-theft system reset did the trick. Cost me just 45€. Thanks for the input; it really helped point me in the right direction.

Whoa, immobilizer issues are a pain! Had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Engine would start, then die immediately. Is the immobilizer light flashing on the dash?
