Seat Ibiza Key Battery Issue

Good point about the spare key. I'll give that a try. If it is just the key fob, is replacing the battery straightforward, or is there some kind of trick to it? I've never had to do this before on this electronic key.

Yes, if the spare works fine, it's almost certainly the battery in your key fob. While you can replace it yourself, be very careful when opening the key. Some have delicate internal components. Honestly, given the car's age and the potential for accidentally damaging the electronic key, a local workshop might be a safer bet. They can also clear the error memory. It's what I ended up doing.

You were spot on. I changed the fob battery, and everything is working again. The total cost was 37€ for the battery and the peace of mind. Thanks for your help!

I had a similar issue with my Ibiza, although I can't remember the exact mileage at the time. Keyless entry stopped working, and the dashboard flashed a warning about the auto key. Have you tried the spare electronic key to see if the issue persists? It could help narrow down if it's actually the key fob itself or something with the car's system.
