Seat Inca Blower Motor Problem

I'm experiencing an issue with the fresh air blower in my 2001 Seat Inca with a diesel engine. The blower motor is not working, and there's an error stored in the memory, though I don't have the exact code. The vehicle has 77857 km on the clock. Based on initial diagnostics, a defective blower motor seems the most probable cause. Before I replace it, has anyone experienced similar issues and can confirm this?

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a problem with the fresh air blower motor in a 2001 Seat Inca. The blower motor is not functioning, and an error code suggests it might be defective. Initial diagnostics point to the blower motor as the most probable cause, though other possibilities like the fan speed controller or wiring issues are considered. Ultimately, a workshop confirms the blower motor is defective, leading to its replacement.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Error codes related to the blower motor usually point to a faulty motor, so that's likely. However, it could also be the fan speed controller or a wiring issue in the HVAC system. Have you checked the blower motor fuse? Is there any airflow at all, even on the highest setting? Just trying to rule out the simple stuff first.

I checked the fuse; it seems fine. I am not sure how to check the fan speed controller though. Where is it usually located, and how do I test it?

Given that the fuse is okay and there's no airflow at all, and with the error code pointing towards the blower, it is probably the blower motor itself. The fan speed controller could be a possibility, but less likely if there is absolutely no air circulation. Unless you are comfortable with auto electrics, you might be best off getting it checked by a workshop. It sounds like you're probably correct with your initial assessment.

I took the Inca to a local workshop. They confirmed the blower motor was defective. The repair cost 365€, as suspected. Thanks for your help.
