Seat Inca charge air temperature sensor issue

My 2002 Seat Inca with a gasoline engine is throwing a charge air temperature sensor error. Check engine light is on, engine power is down, and the error memory says it's the temperature sensor. I'm thinking it's the cable or plug connection, anyone else had this issue?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Check engine light, power loss, the whole shebang. Was there any whistling or hissing noise? If so, have you checked the hoses and connections around the air intake and the temperature sensor? Is the temperature gauge behaving erratically?

Yeah, there's a loud hissing when I accelerate and a whistling noise too, I forgot to mention that. I did check the connections, but maybe not thoroughly enough. You reckon it's worth checking the sensor itself or just the wiring?

The hissing noise makes me think it's a leak somewhere around the air intake. Could be a cracked hose or a loose connection to the temperature sensor itself. I'd double-check all the connections and wiring first, but if that doesn't fix it, maybe get the sensor tested. To be honest, at this point I would go to the workshop and have them check it out. I hope that they can fix your car.

Just letting you know I got it sorted. Turned out to be exactly what you said – dodgy connection. 95€ at the workshop and it's running smooth again. Thanks for the heads up!
