Seat Inca Diesel Alarm Malfunction Advice

My 2003 Seat Inca diesel is giving me grief. The anti-theft alarm system is malfunctioning. I've scanned it and there's an error stored in the error memory, but the alarm itself isn't working. I'm thinking it might be related to the immobilizer. Any thoughts on where to start looking? I'm suspecting something is triggering the security alarm, but I'm stumped as to what. I don't think it's a battery issue, as I have already checked the battery voltage and it is showing 12.5V.

Sounds like a pain! I had a similar issue with my Inca, although I can't remember what year it is. The security alarm kept going off for no reason. Have you checked the battery? A low battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems.

You're right, it could be something else. In my case, it was the same error code. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they sorted it out quickly. If you've checked the obvious things, it might be worth getting a professional to take a look.

Interesting. I hadn't considered the battery. But if the battery was the issue, wouldn't it affect other systems too? This seems to be isolated to the anti-theft system. When you say similar issue, was it the same error code in the memory?

The alarm system was coded to activate the optical locking which caused the malfunction. The workshop recoded it and now it's working perfectly. Cost me 45€.
