Seat Inca engine stalls at idle

I'm having some serious issues with my 2002 Seat Inca (gasoline engine). The check engine light keeps coming on, and the engine stalls at idle. I scanned it, and it's showing an error related to incorrect fuel composition. The van has about 99852 km on it. From what I've read, the most likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. Could fuel contamination be the culprit, even with relatively new fuel? I'm a bit worried about damaging the fuel system further.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Inca, though I can't remember the exact error code. Did you check the fuel filter? Sometimes, fuel contamination can clog it and cause these symptoms. Also, have you used any fuel additives recently? Some of those can mess with the fuel system.

Thanks for the quick reply! The fuel filter is something I didn't check yet, I will definitely do it. Regarding the fuel additives, I've used some fuel injector cleaner a few weeks ago. Could that really be the cause? I thought it would help with fuel economy and combustion chamber deposits, not make things worse!

The fuel additives might be a factor, though a faulty connection is more likely. The additives can sometimes dislodge deposits and cause temporary issues, but it shouldn't cause long-term problems. Given the error code and symptoms, I'd say the shop's diagnosis is probably correct. It's best to get it checked out before it leads to bigger issues. I hope you will fix the fuel economy soon!

Just letting you know the fuel issue with my Inca is sorted. The shop found a loose connection on a fuel sensor. Cost 95€, and the engine light is now off. Thanks again for the help.
