Seat Inca Oil Level Sensor Issue

I've got a Seat Inca year 2000, gasoline engine, with about 107072 km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting an error message in the speedometer related to the oil level sensor, and a warning light pops up. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up as well. I scanned the error memory and it confirms a faulty sensor/oil level sensor signal. I've checked the wiring diagrams and it seems the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor itself. Before I start tearing everything apart, has anyone experienced something like this? Any tips on where to start looking for this faulty sensor? I'm trying to avoid replacing the whole sensor if it's just a bad connection.

Summary of the thread

A Seat Inca owner reported an issue with the oil level sensor, receiving error messages and a warning light on the speedometer. The problem was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. Another person with a similar experience suggested checking the connector for faults. The owner later confirmed that a mechanic found and cleaned a faulty connection, resolving the issue without needing to replace the sensor.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar sensor issue with my Inca. The oil monitoring system went haywire. Was the error message constant, or did it come and go?

Interesting! Was it also the cable or plug connection that was defective in your case? And did the oil pressure warning lamp also light up?

Yep, the oil signal was totally messed up and the light was constantly on. It was the connector for the sensor, if I remember correctly. Honestly, I'd just take it to a shop. It's like a clogged artery in your car's circulatory system, best to let a pro handle it!

Just wanted to say the mechanic found a faulty connection to the oil level sensor, like you said. They cleaned it, and the warning light is gone. Cost 95€, much better than a new engine! Thanks for the advice!
