Seat Inca Overheating Problem

My 2001 Seat Inca, gasoline engine, is giving me grief. It has 189394 km. The engine's overheating, and the check engine light's on. I suspect it's the radiator fan. Has this happened to anyone?

Overheating and a check engine light? Radiator fan issues can be tricky. Does the fan run at all? Have you checked the radiator thermal switch?

Thermal switch? Where is that located, and how do I check its function?

The thermal switch is usually near the radiator and controls the fan motor. If it's faulty, the fan won't activate when needed. A speed sensor could also cause it. If you're not comfortable testing yourself, a workshop visit might be a good idea.

It was a defective speed sensor. Replaced it, and a new thermal switch too while at the shop. Cost 250€.
