Seat Inca Radio Reception Problem

My 2002 Seat Inca with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The radio reception is terrible. Infotainment system keeps displaying error messages, audio system doesn't work at all, and I have an error stored in the error memory, which points towards a defective antenna.

I had a similar issue with my Inca. Infotainment was throwing errors, and the radio was dead. Have you checked the antenna ground? Poor signal and radio interference can often be traced back to that. It's a common issue with these vans, seemingly.

Where exactly did you find the antenna ground point on yours? Was it corroded or loose? I've checked the connections at the head unit itself, but haven't looked specifically at the antenna ground.

Yep, sounds familiar. I messed with it for ages trying to figure it out, reading endless forum posts, checking the signal amplifier, etc. Eventually, I gave in and took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the antenna itself, likely corrosion where the mast meets the base. They sorted it out quickly enough.

Thanks for the insight. Turns out it was indeed the antenna. I had it replaced, along with a check of the vehicle electronics, cost me 255€. Reception is crystal clear again.
