Yes, it's an automatic. The error memory definitely has a stored code. The grinding noises only occur when it's struggling to shift. Do you think it's definitely the control module?

That sounds very familiar. If the error code indicates the control module, it's highly likely that's the issue. These electronic problems can be frustrating and cause various gearbox issues. With those symptoms, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop specializing in transmissions. They can properly diagnose the car computer and verify if the control module is indeed defective.

Appreciate the assistance. The workshop confirmed the transmission control unit was faulty. Repair set me back 1000€, but the shifting is smooth now.

That sounds unpleasant. I experienced similar transmission issues with my Inca, although mine's a diesel. Gearbox problems are awful. Slipping gears and emergency mode? I know that situation. When you mention paddle shifters, does that mean it's an automatic? I'd start by checking the car computer for any error codes. Also, are the grinding noises constant or only during shifting?
