Seat Leon Active Hood Fault

I am experiencing an active hood fault on my 2020 Seat Leon with a hybrid engine, currently at 194347 km. The on-board computer displays the message "Active hood fault", and the airbag warning lamp is illuminated on the speedometer. Diagnostic tools confirm an error stored in the error memory, indicating that the spring actuators have been triggered. I suspect a defective acceleration sensor as the likely cause, given its role in crash detection and car safety. Has anyone encountered this issue previously and can offer some guidance regarding troubleshooting or confirming this diagnosis?

I had a similar issue on my Leon, though it was a different engine variant. The active hood fault triggered the airbag warning light as well. It sounds like the system is behaving exactly as designed when it detects a potential collision. Have you checked the impact sensor readings using VCDS or a similar diagnostic tool? What fault codes are you seeing?

I appreciate the quick reply. When you say impact sensor readings, do you mean specifically the acceleration sensor for the active hood system? I have the error codes pulled, and it points towards that sensor, but I wanted to be certain before replacing it. Is there any specific data I should be looking for?

Yes, I am referring to the acceleration sensor specifically for the active hood system. The error code pointing to that sensor is a strong indicator. In my case, the sensor was reporting implausible values even when the vehicle was stationary. Since the actuators have already been triggered, you likely need a replacement sensor and a recalibration of the system. I recommend taking it to a workshop; they will be able to confirm the fault and replace the sensor.

Thank you for your input. I took it to the workshop, and after diagnosing the issue, they confirmed the acceleration sensor was indeed defective. Replacement and recalibration cost 315€, and the error is now resolved. Much appreciated.
