Seat Leon Air Conditioning Problem

My 2010 Seat Leon with a gasoline engine is acting up. The air conditioning doesn't switch on, and I get an error message on the speedometer. I scanned the error memory, and it says the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger is defective. The car has 112293 km. Could a defective sensor really stop the whole cooling system from working?

I also own a Seat Leon and experienced similar HVAC system problems. If the error code points to a defective heat exchanger temperature sensor, that is a likely culprit. Did the temperature gauge on the dashboard also behave erratically?

The temperature gauge seemed normal. Why do you ask?

The temperature gauge provides another indicator. In my case the temperature gauge was showing fluctuations, which together with the error code, confirmed the issue. The sensor sends data to the air conditioning control unit. If it is faulty, the control unit will not activate the compressor. I would recommend a visit to the workshop for a professional diagnosis and sensor calibration.

Thanks for the help. I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it. New heat exchanger temperature sensor and sensor calibration. Total bill came to 980€. Hopefully, this fixes the HVAC system.
