Seat Leon Check Engine Light and Exhaust Issue

I'm getting seriously frustrated! My 2017 Seat Leon with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The check engine light keeps popping up, and the error memory says something about the NOx storage catalyst aging. I've got 106872 km on the clock. To top it off, I think the exhaust is leaking too! Could this be related? Really worried about nitrogen oxides and failing the emissions test. Any ideas what's going on and what it might cost me to sort out?

Sounds like you might have an issue with your NOx emissions system. I had something similar happen with my old Volvo. The check engine light was driving me crazy! Is your exhaust unusually loud or smelly?

Yeah, the exhaust does seem louder than usual. How did you figure out it was the emissions system on your Volvo? Was it expensive to fix?

Yep, louder exhaust is a classic symptom of a leak in the system, which can definitely mess with your NOx emissions. My Volvo had a cracked exhaust manifold. It can cause the engine to run less efficiently, and that’s why your check engine light is on. I would suggest getting it checked by a workshop. It's important to address it quickly, as it affects air quality and can cause further damage.

Okay, I got it fixed! Turns out it was a leak in the exhaust, just like you suspected. Cost me 265€, but at least the light's off and hopefully I'm doing my bit for air quality now. Thanks again for your help!
