Seat Leon Check Engine Light Coolant Issue

Okay, I'm officially stressed. My 2010 Seat Leon (gasoline engine) is acting up. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the error memory says something about low coolant level. I've got 125760 km on the clock. Could a defective cable or plug connection of the component be the reason?

Low coolant can be a real headache! First things first, have you checked for any visible leaks around the water pump, radiator hoses, or even the radiator itself? Sometimes it's an obvious puddle. Also, is your cooling fan kicking on like it should? If not, that could point to other issues. And just throwing it out there, have you bled the system lately? Air pockets can cause all sorts of weirdness.

Bleed the system? What do you mean by that? I've heard of air pockets, but how do I check for them?

Bleeding the system just means getting rid of any trapped air in your coolant lines. Air pockets prevent proper coolant flow, which can lead to engine overheating. But if the error code specifically mentions a cable or plug, it's most likely a faulty sensor or wiring issue. That's usually cheaper and easier to fix than a water pump or something major. I'd say take it to a mechanic and have them check the wiring first. They can probably diagnose it pretty quickly.

Awesome, thanks for the help! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the cable for the coolant level sensor was faulty. Cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Now I can sleep easy knowing my engine won't overheat!
