Seat Leon Diesel AdBlue issue

I'm officially pulling my hair out! My 2021 Seat Leon diesel is throwing a fit. The AdBlue tank is supposedly empty, according to the error message on the speedometer and I have an error stored in the error memory. Now, the worst part: the engine refuses to start! I've been reading online, and it seems like the AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit might be defective. Anyone else experienced this? This is really impacting my fuel efficiency and emissions control, and I'm worried about damaging the SCR catalyst. Any advice before I end up at the repair shop?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Seat Leon diesel is experiencing issues with the AdBlue system, indicated by an error message stating the tank is empty and preventing the engine from starting. The problem may stem from a defective AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit, impacting fuel efficiency and emissions control. Suggestions include checking the AdBlue injector, pump, sensors, or wiring, with a recommendation to seek professional diagnosis to prevent potential damage to the SCR catalyst. The issue was ultimately resolved by replacing a faulty AdBlue pump.

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my Leon a while back. Same symptoms – AdBlue warning light, error codes, and eventually wouldn't start. Check the AdBlue injector, that was my issue. Is your tank actually full?

Thanks for the quick response! I did check the AdBlue level, and the dash says it's empty. But could a faulty injector cause the tank to read empty even if it's not? I'm trying to understand if I should just refill it or if there's something more sinister going on. The SCR catalyst is probably fine right?

Okay, if the dash says it's empty and the engine won't start, it's likely not just the injector. That was my initial thought based on the symptoms, but the no-start condition points to a more serious problem with the AdBlue system itself. It could still be the pump, a sensor, or even a wiring issue. Honestly, I'd bite the bullet and get it properly diagnosed. An empty AdBlue tank preventing starting is a failsafe to protect the emissions control system, so something is definitely amiss. Going to a workshop seems like the best option.

Just letting you know that the workshop confirmed the AdBlue pump was faulty. The cost was 250€ including labor. Not ideal, but at least it's fixed and the car's running again. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!
