Seat Leon Diesel Engine Power Loss

Okay, so I'm officially pulling my hair out! My 2020 Seat Leon with a diesel engine is giving me fits. It feels like it's lost a ton of power, the check engine light is mocking me from the dashboard, and the engine runs rough, plus it jerks like crazy when I try to accelerate. It's got 157538 km on it. I've read online that it might be running lean, like it's not getting enough fuel. I don't know much about cars but I've heard about things like a faulty injection valve or injector. Any ideas before I sell it for scrap? I've already checked the spark plugs and throttle body and they looked fine.

I had a similar issue with my Seat Leon, though it's not a 2020 model. The symptoms sound familiar. Have you checked the fuel injectors? A lean condition often points to them not delivering enough fuel.

Fuel injectors, huh? I've heard of those, but aren't they a pain to get to? And how would I even know if they're the problem? Could it be something else, like the oxygen sensor or maybe even the EGR valve?

The symptoms do point towards fuel delivery issues. While an oxygen sensor or EGR valve could be involved, the jerking under acceleration is a strong indicator of fuel injectors not working correctly. It's best to get a professional diagnosis to confirm. They can test the injectors individually. It's not a simple DIY job unless you have experience. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop.

Just wanted to say I got this sorted. The mechanic found a faulty fuel injector, just like you said. Replaced them all to be safe, cost 515€. Runs like new now, thanks for the heads up!
