Seat Leon Diesel Fuel Consumption and Starting Issues

I'm having some trouble with my 2000 Seat Leon diesel. Lately, my fuel consumption has gone way up, and it's been a pain to start. I'm thinking it might be a defective car throttle valve. Any ideas or suggestions? I've been reading about throttle cleaning, but I'm not sure if that's the right way to go. Could it be the engine throttle needing attention?

I had a similar issue with my Leon. Higher fuel consumption and a bit sluggish on start. Have you tried any car throttle or air intake cleaning? It might be a sticky control valve. It’s worth a shot before spending money.

Did cleaning the throttle help in your case, or did you have to do something else? Also, where exactly is the control valve located? I'm not super familiar with the air intake system on these.

Cleaning helped a bit, but the problem came back. Eventually, the garage said the accelerator pedal module was faulty. It was messing with the signal to the engine. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally before you spend too much time on it yourself.

Got it sorted. It was the accelerator pedal module, like we suspected. Cost 205€ to get it replaced. Thanks for the heads up!
