Seat Leon Diesel Fuel Pump Issue

Oh dear, I am in dire straits with my 2004 Seat Leon diesel. I think I have a fuel pump defective. My poor car now has 163178 km on the clock. It started with the engine stalling at idle, then the engine does not start at all. Now the check engine light comes on, and the engine runs so rough. I am getting higher fuel consumption too. I had a peek at the error memory, and it showed an error. Is this really pump failure? Could it be the cable or plug connection?

Sounds familiar. I had similar engine stalling issues with my Leon, though mine is a bit newer. Check your fuel system, specifically the pump. Could be a pump failure. Is the check engine light on?

Yep, sounds like the same issue I had. Rough engine running and higher fuel consumption were definitely there. I'm not a mechanic, so I just took it to a workshop. They did the automotive diagnosis and confirmed the fuel pump issue. If you're not comfortable tackling it yourself, I'd recommend getting it checked out by a pro.

Wow, that's exactly what it was. Took it to a local mechanic, they checked the cable and plug connection to the fuel pump, and that was indeed the culprit. They fixed it for 95€, and now my Leon is running smoothly again. Thanks a million for your help.
